小さな円から脱け出て、『広い世界』へと飛び込む選択をした、元《在日朝鮮人》で、現《在日韓国人》の男の子のお話。

イジメ、差別、国籍、ルーツやＤＮＡ、友人の死などを、テンポのいい語り口で爽やかに読ませ、会話も面白くて何度も笑ってしまいました。
「韓国の人や中国の人は血が汚い」と子供のころからお父さんに言われていたガールフレンドの桜井に対し、「どういう風に、この人は日本人、この人は韓国人、この人は中国人、て区別するの？」と訊きかえすシーンがあり、本当に考えさせられました。
また、お父さんとタクシーの中で口論になり、外に出てタクシーの運転手さんをレフェリーに対決するシーンは爽快で笑ってしまいました。

私は大阪で生まれ育ったのでまわりにはたくさんの在日韓国人・朝鮮人がいたはずなのですが、両親は差別的なことを言わない人でしたし、学校内でもそのことを理由にしたイジメがあった記憶はありません。
また、高校生のときにバイト先のミナミの飲食店で仲良くなった女の子ふたりとある日「パフェを食べに行こう！」となったのですが、待ち合わせ場所にあらわれたふたりは制服のチマチョゴリ姿でニコニコしていました。
朝鮮学校のことを当時知らなかった私は「変わった制服だなぁ…」くらいしか思わなかった記憶がありますし、その女の子たちも特に気にする様子もなく普通に仲良くしていました。
だからこの本や、映画「パッチギ」の中での朝鮮学校対日本の高校の間の対立？を見ると、考えさせられると同時に少しの違和感もおぼえました。
ちょっと昔の話なんでしょうか…

とにかく「日本は単一民族」と発言した中山成彬元国交相に是非読んでもらいたい本です。

青春恋愛小説である
しかし
主人公は在日朝鮮人から在日韓国人に国籍をかえた男の子
中学校まで通った民族学校ではなく都内の男子校に進む
在日と言うことで差別は勿論あり友人はできず、
中学までの友人も裏切り者と離れていく
愛する恋人との関係も日本人ではないということで
うまくいかない事もあり…

若い頃思い悩む『恋』『友人関係』とありきたりの要因が
『差別』がからむため非常に濃い内容となる
主人公は体を鍛え、本を読を読み、友を思い、恋人を思いと
人生を一生懸命、誰よりも深く考え真面目に生きているのだが
『在日』と言うこで日本人の人よりも世界が狭められている
『在日』と『日本人』の違いは何もない！あるならなんなのだ？と
主人公が悩むさまに胸がうたれる
差別がある狭められた世界から『俺は俺でなんでもない』自由だと
広い世界を作ろうとする行動に心が動かされる
今、なおある差別について今一度考える機会となる1冊である

とにかくテンポがよくて読みやすいです。

主人公がとても魅力的。とりまく周りの子供たちも魅力的。

在日の友人知人がたくさんいるので、

うんうんわかるよって思いつつも、

実際はわかっているつもりで全然わかってないのかな？と思ってもみたり。

ただ、個人的には、この主人公の恋した女の子が、あまり好きなタイプの女ではないのが、

ちょっと痛かったです。

しかし、「血が穢れている」

すごい言葉だよね。

読み終えて、すぐにもう一度読み直したくらいに「大ヒット」でした。

他の作品も読んでみたいけど、がっかりするのが怖くて手が出せないでいます。

でも・・・手を出すでしょう（笑
