まず、この主人公が面白い、というか、変わってる。
本人はまともだと思っているが、
どう見てもイマドキフツーほ大学生とは大きく変わってる。
小学生のころに言われた「早寝早起きを心がけましょう」をいまだに忠実に守り
午後９時には就寝し、午前６時には起床。
そのためコンパにも出ず、
９時に寝るために銭湯もあきらめてしまうほどの変わり者。
そして心を落ち着かせる時には写経･･･。
素晴らしく健全（？）な大学生なんだけど、
やはりどこかずれてます。

そんな快人が経験する不可思議な物語。
自縛霊の仕業と恐れられる自動車事故、プールに出没する河童等々。
その謎を幼馴染の春奈と大学の先輩の長曽我部と解き明かしていく。

この先輩も超不可思議な人間。
大学もいったい何年通っているのか分からない。
いつの間にか学部も変わっちゃったりしてます。
オカルト大好き人間で、アクセサリーはすべてオカルトグッズ。
胸に変な模様を書き込み、
でもそれが消えてしまうと至極全うな人間になったりもする。
冬には冬眠をし、しばらくの間姿を消したり、
快人以上に超変な人物で
快人も彼に振り回されながらも１年を過ごしていくのです。
彼の謎な存在がこの物語をさらに面白くさせていますね。

はやみねさんは児童文学を書かれる方のようですが、
この作品は大人も十分に楽しめる作品です。
謎も日常の謎を取り扱い、決しておどろおどろしくないのですが、
先輩と快人、そして春奈のカラミが非常に面白いのです。

昔の、汚い学生下宿そのもの。新入生とガールフレンドが急に現れた。むちゃくちゃな大騒ぎが展開します。ペンギンって知ってますか＾＾
ところで、舞台のM大学は、三重大学ですね。N大学は名古屋大学。
東京が舞台の本がほとんどの社会で、地方が舞台の本はとてもうれしいです。

ポルターガイストや地縛霊など，いわゆるオカルトな現象を
日常的な視点で解いていくのが，ユニークで興味を惹かれます．

また，生真面目な僕（主人公）と不真面目な先輩の関係や，
その先輩に振りまわされる展開は，ありがちな気もしますが，
噛み合わないやり取りなどは，やはりライトで読みやすいです．

ただ，謎自体がオカルトなので，読みながらの推理がしづらく，
その課程や結果を見ているだけのようになり，少し物足りません．

ほかにも，妙な言動を見せる先輩のことが最後までわからず，
特別な能力を持つというガールフレンドのほうも活躍は少なめ．
あとがきでは，シリーズ化についても触れられているようですが，
ほかの個性的なメンツたちも，あまり目立たなかったのが残念です．
