前の２作は筋立てや風景描写などがよかったが、これはどちらかといえば
ドキュメンタリータッチ。評者の気づいた限りでは、フィクション部分は
きわめて少ない。エンロン事件になじみのない読者は、どこまでが事実か
わからないかもしれないという問題はある（インドや日本でのエンロンの
行動は、ほぼここに書いてある通りで、著者の作り話ではない）。

著名なビジネススクールでワンセメスターつかってエンロンケースを研究する例があるなど、スキームの複雑さが強調される事件であるが、著者のスキーム説明、および、営業収益（ここは基本的に赤）と営業外収益（ここで粉飾）の組み合わせ、という大枠がわかっていると、わかりやすさが全く違うと思う。
ともあれ、エンロン問題を知りたい者にとって、きわめていい手引きである（添付の参考文献も有益である）。

ブライアン・クルーバーの「内部告発エンロン」が、いきなり粉飾会計を知らされた社員の視点からであるのに対し、こちらはエンロンの設立・発展・倒産を通して上層部の視点から、なぜこのような粉飾会計をしなければならなかったのか、その粉飾が徐々に明るみに出ていく様子が記されています。
タイトルにもあるように、小説として書かれており、巻末に簡単な用語集もついているので金融やエンロンについて全く予備知識のない私でも一気に読めました。

エンロン、エンロンて騒いでたけどなにがどーなってたの？って方にはオススメ。エンロンが使った投資組合の複雑なからくりも詳しく載っていて、ライブドアのからくりなんかこれに比べたら実にシンプルだなーって感じました。
とにかく勉強になります。世の中にはいろんな金儲けのテクニックを思いつく人がいるんだなぁ。
