「夏」という言葉から連想される情景に思い入れなどがある方にはたまらない一冊だと思います。
「水底の魚」のクライマックスの描き方や「水に沈んだ私の村」の花火のシーンは最高。
「水に沈んだ私の村」は「水底の魚」での登場人物の学生時代の話ですが、こういう学生生活送ってみたかったと正直、羨ましく思いました。

皆さん仰るように「BL」といった要素を仄めかすようなやり取りはちらほら出てきます。（作者はそれを分かった上で『程度』を計算していると思いますが）
それに対して軽く笑い飛ばせるなら是非一読して頂きたいのですが、あざとさを感じて嫌悪感を抱いてしまう方には確かに辛いかもしれません。
主人公のニ人が子どもでなく、成人を果たしていることもその一因ですね。

ただ、それで手を引いてしまうにはもったいないとだけ言っておきます。
月光を浴びる鯉や湿った匂いを漂わす書物、プールに投げ込まれる西瓜や校舎の屋上から見える花火など・・・作者の偏愛のようなものに強く共感し、物語に引き込まれました。

多かれ少なかれ、おたく文化や作者の嗜好への先入観が読者を過敏にしてしまい、物語の本質に触れさせる前にふるいにかけて二極化してしまっているのは複雑に思います。

なお、単行本化にあたって「水底の魚」の後日談「名前のないもの」とあさのあつこ氏の解説を収録。
この後日談は…私には作者の軽いお遊びのように思えました。
だって瀬名垣があんな爆弾発言を…（笑）

物語の全体を通して流れる、透明で瑞々しい雰囲気にやられました。

主要人物二人の間に漂う、どこか官能的な雰囲気。所謂、『ボーイズラブ』みたいな雰囲気に嫌悪感を覚える方もいらっしゃるとは思います。


しかし、古本屋『無窮堂』を中心に回る人間の繊細でもろい心を描いたこの本は、それすら飛び越える魅力がある!!と、私は思っています。是非ご一読を。

はっきり言って「やられた」と思ってしまった。舞台は神田神保町の古本屋さん。そこで過去の罪に囚われた二人の青年の葛藤を描いている。実際には真志喜よりも瀬名垣のほうが葛藤は強いように思える。「あれが俺の禁断の果実だったというわけか」という科白で彼がいかに真志喜に、そして古本の世界に囚われてしまっているかが窺える。ここに彼が真志喜に抱く微妙な感情すべてが包括されていると言ってよい。二人の間にセクシァルな感情が少なからず介在することは否めないが、わざとあからさまな描写をしないところが奥ゆかしくも、かえって艶っぽくもある。「長野まゆみ」というお名前に心当たりのある方に特にオススメ。真志喜の可愛らしさにやられてください。
