角田さんの旅エッセイは肩の力が抜けるような感じでとても馴染みやすい。
どこへ行ってもよく道に迷うという角田さんが、人の親切に触れたり、
はっとするような美しい風景に出会いながらいろんな国をてくてく歩く姿はとても逞しいです。

角田さんの旅歴は長くて濃いです。特にアジア圏。
その街に住む人々と同じ視線で物事を見られるのは、旅慣れた人ならではの感性だと思います。
街の印象や匂いまでもがこちらに伝わってきます。

旅行に持っていくのにも最適なエッセイです。

　タイトルの付け方がいい。さりげない。センスがある。「いつも旅のなか」
「人生は旅」などと言うと、芭蕉のイメージになってしまう。肩の力を抜いたさわやかな現代感覚に惹かれる。
　特に「熱く、辛い小旅行　韓国」が気に入った。キムチを暗示していることは、読む前からわかるはず。読んでみれば、それだけではなく、「熱く、辛い旅経験」を感覚的に表わしていることが分かる。
　独立館では過去の日本人が何をなしてきたかが反省させられる。また、バス停の喫煙所で喫煙していたら、運転手に激しくクラクションを鳴らされたこと（目上の人の前で女性が煙草を吸うのはエチケットに反する）など貴重な「熱く、辛い旅経験」をしている。面白い。
