実際「小説なんだから少しくらい夢物語的な部分があったって良いじゃない」そう思う人は多いかもしれない。事実、今世の中で受け入れられているのは、純粋な気持ちの恋愛物とか、亡くなった人を思い続ける一途な話が多いし、現実の嫌な事から逃避できる物語が好まれている傾向に見える。物語が終わった時で綺麗な涙が流せると言うのがキーポイントなのかな。だとすると、この小説は今向きではないのかもしれない。確かに「不自由な心」を読んでも綺麗な涙は出ない・・・と思う。
でも、何だか分からないけどムショウに納得できるのだ。「そうなんだよー、世の中ってこんなもんだよね」と少し面食らうくらいに人間の弱さだとか、矛盾、もどかしさ、理不尽さが襲ってきて、そういう意味で「せつない」。多くのレビューを書いておられる方が「女性向きじゃない」「女性には好まれない」と書かれてますが、私は女性です。
白石一文さんは私が一番にお薦めしたい作家さんです。

五つの物語からできた短編集である。
作者のあとがきに「順番に読んで欲しい」とあったので、そのようにして読んだ。

主人公は三十代から四十代の大手企業の社員達だ。
どの物語も会社人としての日常を背景に、生きること、死ぬことをテーマとして追求している。

愛と命がテーマだと中帯には書いてあったが、さぁどうだろうか。
登場する女達は物語の進行に必要な小道具という印象だった。

男の読者のほとんどは感銘を受けるに違いないが
わたしを含め、女の読み手は、主人公の気持ちは理解できるが反発を感じるはずだ。
別な視点からいえば、男の自分中心主義がわかっていいとも言える。

読後感はかなりにがい。ほろ苦さを通り越している。
ほっくりした読後感を求める人にはお薦めできないが、隙のないいい仕上がりの作品だと感じた。

五編の中では、そうですね、やはり「不自由な心」がひとつ抜きん出ている印象でした。

正直、読んでいて最高に「なんだこの本は」ってむかついてました。
男の人の不誠実さ、身勝手さ、救いようのない人間しか出てこないので
ほんとに読んでいて腹立たしかったんだけど、著者があとがきでかいてあるとおり最後までちゃんと順番をおってよんでいくと、彼の書きたかったこと、がわかる気がした。
表題のとおりに「不自由な心」ああ、そういうことなんだな。
出てくる人とかストーリーとかほんとうに腹立たしかったけど
ラストの感動はなんともいえず、記憶に残るほんではありました。
