ページをめくる手がとまらず、１日で読み終えてしまいました。障害のある夫を持つ三宮明日美、整形を繰り返し借金を抱える葉山しのぶ、冴えないヤクザ木島史郎、自己の存在にリアリティを感じられない藤並渚。明日美としのぶは元友人でしたが、別々に生活していた彼ら４人が偶然出会わしそれぞれの動機はともかく暴力団の金を奪おうと一致団結します。明日美・しのぶ（後に渚が加わる）と史郎の別々の話が一つに収斂されていく様が気持ちよい。そして、最後には「事実はこうだったのか！」と驚きの連続。「一杯、いや、二杯も三杯もくわされたぜ」という気分になります。最後の場面では映画「トゥームレイダー」のラストシーンを思い出してしまいました。話の内容は全然違うけどね。タイトルの意味はやたらと大勢の人が死んでいくからかな？

これは最近読んだ中でも相当面白いものでした。登場人物の顔、環境、背負っているもの。文章の流れの良さは抜群、決して単なるクライム小説ではなく、ノワールでは決してない。一度読むと「OUT」を想像するかもしれませんが、登場人物はそれほど馴れ合っているわけでもありません、抱えているものが重いのです、もっとそれを説明してもよかったような気も読後感じましたが、そんなもんは吹き飛んでしまいます。角川文庫ですから「映画化」は考えられますね、そんな面白さでした。
