上巻からどんどんありえなさがエスカレート。
漫画のような、から漫画のためのストーリーかと思うくらい
開き直ったストーリー。
解説の筒井氏も書いているように、「過剰」という言葉がぴったり。
前半（上巻）のストーリーが結構よく感じていただけに、
強引な後半が残念。

思う存分書きあげた、
沖縄の作家の一品、ともいえる。
かなりぶっ飛んだ発想で、
ディテールは展開されながら、
一本通った本筋はダイナミック。

森の浸食によって、
地上に人が住むことは難しい時代。
しかし、貧しい人たちは、
そこで生きざるを得ない。
地上から高くそびえる大きな仮想都市“アトラス”に住むのは、
特権階級や、裕福な家庭、
あるいはくじ引きで当たった一握りの幸運な人たちでしかない。
それはランクによって格付けされた世界。
充分な空間はあるにもかかわらず、
未だ、差別はなくならない。
そして、その差は、直接命にかかわるものである。

大きな伏線に富んだ上巻を受けて、
その謎が解き明かされる。
炭素経済のスタートから終焉。
なぜアトラスが作られたのか？
皇位継承者とは？
その継承者の3人のつながりは？
ゼウスとメドゥーサ、どちらが生き残るのか？

すべての謎は、
新たな未来の幕開けのためでしかない。
二転三転しながら、
大団円（？）に向かっていく。

かなり、
ぶっ飛んだ表現のため、
軽いコメディのようにとらわれそうだが、
とんでもない。
この差別は、
沖縄を差別し続けた大和民族への批判であり、
天皇制を未だ固持する体制への批判である。
思い切ったそのパロディは、
クローン人間まで現れ、
かなり強引な皇位継承者たちのオンパレード。
そして、新たな“天皇”が現れない限り、
この国が救われないというのは、
彼独特のブラックユーモアである。

これに発想を得て書かれたという『テンペスト』もまた、
ぜひ読んでみたい。

上巻で広げた大風呂敷を納めるため、下巻はドタバタ劇のような展開。
面白いことは面白いし、アイディアも良いが、話に無理がある。

いっきに読んでああ面白かったという本を探しているなら、お勧め。
