稲見一良さんの小説、テーマは、自然や動物、老人と子供、銃と狩猟、男の生き方、なんていうものが多くて、自然派でもハンターでもない私にはまあ、関係ない世界なんですが、簡潔でスムーズな文体と、ちょっとセンチメンタルな内容が爽やかな読後感に繋がるんですね。晩年に近い作品は稲見さん御本人がすんでいた千葉の花見川を舞台に書かれているのが多いのですが、花見川がすごく素敵なところに思えて、こんど暖かくなったら行ってみようかなと思ってます。

本書のベストセリフ
「世間には、悪事を働いてのうのうと生きてる人間が少なくありません。
政治屋から暴走族の類まで、
やっている事に大小の差はあるが、
この連中が世の中のペスト…
害虫である事には違いはない。
地位を利用して巨万の金で私腹を肥やす者から、
弱者に苦痛を与える事だけがおもしろいという暴力狂まで多種多様だが、
共通するのは被害に泣く人たちがいる事だ」

一個目の自衛隊のC-1輸送機を奪う話から
もう釘付けです。
バイクとか車なんていう、
スケールの小さいメカにﾊｧﾊｧしてるのは、
小物のチンピラの暴走族だよね。
ドライバーのかっちょよさではなくて、
整備士やナビゲーターのかっちょよさを追求した渋いハードボイルド。
というか冒険小説というか、ファンタシィでもある。
トンデモないものも喋るし、
もちろん、犬率も高いです。
表題作の「花見川のハック」は
「花見川の要塞」には直接関係ないが、
要塞同様ファンタジィの雰囲気が素晴しい。
男の生き様死に様を描いた凛とした傑作集である。
