本書と英訳（The Prophet)を持っています。他の方のご指摘のとおり、神谷美恵子さんの色が濃いように感じるかもしれません。ですが、これは単なる詩集ではなく、各詩のあとに神谷氏が解説をつけた作品です。神谷氏は詞の訳者でもあり、解説の著者でもあるわけです。訳が曲がっているわけではなく、詩の部分を読んで心に残るメッセージは確実にジブラーンのもので、神谷氏の著作にはない表現・視点です。各詩のあとに解説は確実に神谷氏のものですから、そこはやはり神谷さんらしい。その部分を混同しなければ意訳どころか二粒の味わいがあるかと思います。

その独特の世界の捉え方の感銘を受けた。

信仰と重ねあわされた詩であるが、僕でも理解できる。

きっと多くの人がハリール・ジブラーンの詩を読むことによって癒されたのであろう。

『うつわの歌』（みすず書房）所蔵の「ハリール・ジブラーンの詩」が文庫化された。16篇の詩が、神谷さん自身の思うところを添えて訳されている。詩人の言葉にも、訳者の言葉にも、とてつもなく深く大きなものを感じる。宇宙、神、いやもっと大きな……。身を正して、静かに向い合いたい本。加賀乙彦解説。
