このエッセイを読む限りでは、
江國さんは、素敵な人や大好きなものに囲まれているようで、
羨ましい、そう思いました。

また、彼女が描く物語の主人公たちは、彼女自身なのだと、
改めて気づかされるような箇所が多々あります。
特に私は、彼女のお父さんの話や妹の話、それに｢ラルフへ」が気に入って、
何度も読み返してみました。

自分のことやその身の回りのことを、
あんな風に透き通らせながら書けるって、
とても素敵なことのように思います。
彼女のエッセイ集は、まだこれしか読んだことがありませんが、
書店で見つけることが出来れば、
また他のエッセイも読んでみたいと思います。

江國さんの文章はいつもきれいだなと思います。きれいな表現をしてくれるので、読んでるほうも心が少しきれいになれる感じ。「ラルフへ」では、不倫の恋について書かれていましたが、読んでいると、そのことばがもつ嫌な感じがなくなり、人の切なさやかなしさ、かわいらしさが感じられて、許しを得られるような気になります。江國さんの人柄がわかる日常のことが多く書かれているので１度読んで見ると、ほかの作品もより楽しめるかもしれません。

　彼女は小説のなかでよく家族を描くが、その人の口から「すべての家族は変態的である」ということばを聞くとは。

　でもこのひとことで、彼女のえがく家族の姿がみょうに納得できてしまった。作家のエッセイや書評のおもしろさは、ときに思わぬ本音や素顔がのぞくところだが、この本もその例にもれない。

　ある種の微妙な感覚をいかにリアルに読者に伝えるか、そういうことに腐心している人が、書評や読書日記でどんな本をとりあげているのか、彼女の小説の読者なら、やはりのぞいてみたくなるのでは？　

　彼女の文章の淡彩な味わいを重厚好みの人に押しつけるわけにはいかないので、かなり読者を選びそうな感じもする。
