小林泰三氏のデビュー作。デビュー作品とは思えないほどの完成度。
表題作「玩具修理者」も傑作だが、「酔歩する男」はすごい！読みながら、めまいが。まさに「酔歩」してしまうのだ！

この本に出会ったときの衝撃はいまだに忘れられない。ある日、学校から帰ると玄関に投げ出されている本書を発見。訝しく思うのも早々に読書モードに入ってしまう。時間の経つのも気にせず、黙々と読むこと２時間。読了後、茫然自失となってしまうのであった。それにしても凄い。表題作の玩具修理者は本当にデビュー作かと野暮な疑いを持ってしまう程の傑作。女の語る玩具修理者にまつわる過去を恐怖に徐々に支配されながらも聞く男。驚愕のラストは世界の崩壊を目の当たりにすることになる。二編目の酔歩する男もやはり傑作。誰にでもあるような間違いが、男の恐るべき過去に収束されていく過程は、玩具修理者同様世界の崩壊が待ち受けている。この本を読めば、現実がいかに脆いものかと否応なしに認識する!ことになる。こちら側にストレートに伝わってくる恐怖はこの作品ならでは。一度お試しあれ。ところで、何でこの本が玄関に投げだされていたのかはいまだに不明。不思議なこともあるものです。

まず玩具修理者は、いかにも短編チックな作品。二人の会話と回想を通じて徐々に高まる
興奮と悪寒。ラストの衝撃も大きい。

だがもう一つの作品。酔歩する男が素晴らしい。もう途中で唸りまくりだったよ。
あっちへ、こっちへ時間を行き来する眩暈のような感覚と、絶対に終わらすことのできない
恐怖ってのをまざまざと感じさせてくれる。終われない・・・発狂するしかない。いや発狂しても終われない・・・
