2005年度版このミス10 4位。
2004年文春ミステリーベスト10 1位。

ある作品がベストセラーになってから読む場合、期待が大きすぎるせいか拍子抜けすることが多いのだが、この作品の場合違った。「キリスト教」の造詣の深い人が読めば感想が異なるのかもしれないが、少なくとも私にとっては、ミステリーとしても、知的好奇心をくすぐられる作品としても、十分に楽しめるものであった。

私自身は、宗教の歴史のこともあまりよくわからなかったのですが
かなり細かな解説付きで進んでいくので、なんとか読み進み
後半になればなるほど、スピードＵＰ！
犯人が誰だとかという展開に関しては、なんだかありふれているようでもあるし
無理矢理１８０°反転させちゃったような部分もありますが
人間が宗教というものをどうやって作り上げてきたのか
私たちが宗教に求めるものは何なのか、
そんなことを考え出すと物語にはまりこんでいきます。
映画・・・はどうでしょう。かなりいいとこ取りになっちゃうのかな。
でも、映画の中でそういった絵画や史跡が登場するのなら
是非是非、見てみたい。
私自身、翻訳本って嫌いでした。日本語にすると無理のあるものが多いし。
でも、今回はすんなり入れましたよ。

下巻では，キーストーンの暗号を解き，ルーブル美術館の館長が残したメッセージの内容がいよいよ明らかになります．そして，あまり登場人物が多くないにもかかわらず混沌としていた人間関係がすっきりとしてきます．

ストーリーとしては，それほど凝ったミステリーではないと思いますが，ダヴィンチの作品の解説やキリスト教の聖杯伝説の話をうまく織り交ぜて展開しているところが魅力です．各巻の巻頭にダヴィンチの作品やストーリーに関係する教会の写真が掲載されていますので，それらを眺めながら読むと楽しめます．最後はホッとする結末で，これまでのハラハラドキドキの展開をスッと落ち着かせてくれます．さて，映画はどのような作りになるのでしょうか．
