幼い子供だからこそここまでまっすぐに母の死を否定し、どこかにいることを信じきれるのだと思います。
ポネットは少し強気だけどお母さんが大好きな女の子です。
そんなポネットだからこそ私たちに純粋な感動を与えてくれるのでしょう。

これが少し大きな子供ならまた違った感動になると思いますが、幼い子供がどれだけ母親の存在が大きいかというのを直球的に感じました。
映画のほうがより感動するらしいので今度見てみたいと思います。

私はこの本を読んで、涙が止まらなくなりました。 たった４，５歳の女の子にとって、母の死というものは、 この世が終わるかのようにさえ感じられたはずです。

私には両親がそろっているので彼女のような思いはしたことはありませんが、彼女の場合、一緒に乗っていた車が転落し、母の死を彼女自身の目で見たわけなので、これほど辛いことはありません。それから彼女は親戚に預けられましたが、死んだ母にまだ会えると信じつづけ、最終的には幽霊になった母に会うことができ、彼女は大きく成長しました。それと同時に私も心のどこかで彼女のように何か一つのことを信じていけたらすばらしい人生を送れるんではないかと思いました。

この話は、映画と共に見ると、またあらたな感動があります。
小さい子供が、お母さんが亡くなったのを受け入れるのは、とても、難しいことです。ひたむきに、その事実と、向き合う純粋な姿に、さらなる感動があります。
涙なくして、読めない本だと思います。
