人は理想を失うとき、はじめて老いる。

簡潔な言葉に集約された、美しい人生へのメッセージ。
困難な人生を生き抜いた彼だからこそ辿り付けた、円熟とも言える人生賛歌。

夢に自信が持てなくなったとき、
自分に自信が持てなくなったとき、
将来を悲観する時、
辛い時にこそ手にとって貰いたい一冊。

その時、逃げる事ではなく、闘い続けることの大切さを教えてくれます。

”青春とは、心の若さである。”そのタイトルの持つ説得力と、表紙に使われている心が洗われるような”青”に惹かれて、半ば吸い寄せられる様にこの詩集を買った。作者サムエル・ウルマンは、ユダヤ人である。彼の生きた年代から察するに、ユダヤ人として迫害され、相当につらく、厳しい半生を送ったことは、想像に難くない。それなのに、彼の紡ぎだす言葉はどこまでも深く、希望に満ち溢れ、人間の”善”を信じ、明るい。タイトルに代表される”青春”という名の詩。人間は、ここまで強く、そして老年まで人生を楽しく生きることができるのであるという証が、この本には詰まっている。１９歳の時にこの本を手にとって以来５年が経った。この先私が生き続ける限り、この本はいつまでも、座右の書となってくれるであろうことを確信している。
