密室殺人トリック（＋アルセーヌ・ルパン風？探偵）小説。
監視カメラ等による密室形成と、検証・否定される奇抜なトリック(アイデア)の数々。
文章は読みやすく、探偵役もユニークな設定で面白いです。
最終、今までに見かけた事のないトリックではありますが、衝撃度としては？の印象でした。
日本推理作家協会賞受賞作、かつ「青い炎」の貴志祐介ですが、本格ミステリーとしては初作。今後に期待したいです。

貴志祐介のホラー小説のファンだったせいか、自分の思い描く貴志作品としては物足りなさを感じてしまった。クリムゾン〜や天使の囀りは１０回以上読み返し、夢にまで見るほどの恐怖とリアリティのあるディティールに夢中になったものだが、今作の個人的な感想としては「悪くはないが一度さらっと読めば読み返すこともないだろう・・」というもの。

ホラー以外での作品として「青の炎」があるが、こちらは主人公の思いや切なすぎるラストが印象的だったが、今作にはそういうものもなく今までの貴志作品とは全く違ったものになっている。エンターテイメントとしては面白いとは思う。ただノリが軽い。

殺人の方法は面白いし、今までにない探偵のキャラクター、探偵側と犯人側視点の二部構成も面白い。テンポのよさはさすがにストーリーテーリングの巧さを感じさせる。

こういった探偵もので意外な犯人というのはお約束だろうが、「この中の誰かが犯人」という形式で物語は作られていないので、少々納得しにくい感がある。いきなり「お前が犯人かよ！」というところから二部が始まるためだろう。

陰惨なストーリーでないため、読後感は他の作品と比べると爽やかではある。が爽やか過ぎてものたりん！というのが率直な感想。

シリーズ化されそうな気配がするが、私としてはクリムゾン〜時代の貴志祐介の小説をもっと読みたいと願っている。でも第２弾が出たらファンとしてはきっと買ってしまう。

　面白くないわけではないが、好きではなかった。前半の推理しては失敗、推理しては失敗、というあたりは単純に楽しく読めたが、後半、犯人の目線になった途端、不完全燃焼感が募ってしんどかった。『青の炎』でも思ったが、この著者は倒叙形式があまり向いていないんじゃないかな…　
　犯人の行動原理が浅薄なのに対して、犯行の手順を執拗なほど細かく書き連ねるやり方には、どうしてもリアルを感じられない。特に恨みがあるわけでもない人間に対して、ここまで緻密なやり方での殺人をしかけるその過程が、克明な記述であればあるほど、犯人の人物造詣に違和感を感じ、作り事っぽい印象を受けてしまう。逆にそこをつきつめて、人間はそこまで利己的になりうる、という書き方であれば納得できたのだが、そういう風に読むにも中途半端だ。犯人視点でありながら、どんな意味でもまったく犯人の心に寄り添えないのでは、倒叙の意味がないような気がする。
　読んでいる間はそれなりに楽しめるが、心には残らない。
