私は小学生の頃「少年マガジン」に連載された「ゲゲゲの鬼太郎」を読んで妖怪マニアになった。その意味で水木先生は妖怪界における師である。だが、水木先生の自伝「ほんまにワシはアホやろか」と読むと、その生き方に感動すると共に、その大人ぶりには驚かされる。本書は水木先生の人生論を纏めたもの。

水木先生は太平洋戦争に駆り出され、南の島で戦闘のため隻腕になり死線を彷徨った。しかし、そんな不遇の中でも自身の不幸を恨むより、親切にしてくれる島の人々に感謝の念を持ったと言う。回りの状況に左右されるのではなく、常に悠然とポジティブ思考で生きて行く。勿論、自分の考えを他人に押し付けたりはしない。最後に水木先生の「幸福の七ヶ条」が載っているが、その中に「なまけ者になりなさい」という箴言がある。苦労に苦労を重ねた水木先生の言葉だけに重みがある。ギスギスした現代社会の中では貴重なアドバイスだと思う。

人は各々出来る範囲の事をやれば充分で、あとは「なまけ者」になれば幸福になれると言う、水木先生の人生を反映した快著。
