アトムやリボンの騎士等のアニメ化された所謂「白」手塚作品と両極に位置する作品。

ＧＨＱ占領下の日本が舞台となり、下山事件、農地解放等の事件を題材として、その時生きた人の、政治思想、性モラル、道徳価値の変換を物語る。

傑作「アドルフに告ぐ」と同じく、続く戦後という時代の匂いを感じることができます。

観察可能な事実を元に推理小説を書いたのが松本清張、ノンフィクションを書いたのか吉村昭、漫画を描いたのが手塚治虫でしょうか。

作家にとっては結局「事実」が一番面白いネタ元なのかなあと思います。

おすすめです。

まるで、上質のノンフィクションのような漫画です。漫画の域を超えた質の高い作品だと思います。敗戦後の昭和の時代の闇を描いているようです。私は、下山事件については詳しくありませんが、その謎に迫るような作品になっているようです。この作品を読んで下山事件に興味を持ちました。面白いので、上下巻とも一気に読みました。昭和の時代に、本当にこんなことあったかもしれないと思わされる、地方の資産家の閉鎖的な陰湿さについては、不快な気持ちを持ちつつも、人間の本質を見る思いです。難しいテーマを読者の気持ちを鷲づかみにしながら、描いていくところは、さすが、手塚治虫と思います。また、テーマの選び方が、知性と感性を感じます。

別の所でも書きましたが、笑いとシリアスとは、本来表裏一体なのですね。コインの裏表みたいに。コメディアンさんのシリアスな芝居がハマり役になるとか。
うーむ。暗い。構成は緻密にしてとことんダーク。ＧＨＱや下山（作中では霜山）事件などが絡む戦後日本を舞台に、或る旧家の姿が描かれます。
ヒョウタンツギもオムカエデゴンスもハム・エッグもヒゲオヤジも出て来ません。
主人公奇子に、初めの内は感情移入もしながら読んでいたのですが、段々とそれも辛くなってくるのが凄い。
作家・手塚治虫が、自分の中のレンジの針を、かなり一方に振った作品、と云えるのでしょう。
手塚作品を子供が読むべき模範的な漫画作品、と取り敢えず唱える人は、この作品を読んでどう云う感想をもたれるでしょうかね。
あまりにも救いがないので、星は１点引かさせて貰いましたが…。
一気に読んでしまいました。傑作です。
