原田宗典の短篇集はリズム感がよくって読みやすい。電車の中、待ち合わせ中、場所を選ばずいろいろな世界に連れてってくれる。懐かしさや、恐怖、皮肉、他では味わえない様々な人に出会えるストーリー集。

原田宗典といえば「クスクス笑える」短編集が私には
おなじみで、子育てで途方にくれる心をどれだけ癒して
もらったか、わからない。
年齢が近い分、同じような原風景を持っているからか
笑いのツボがスタライクゾーンにバシッとくるのだ…
途方にくれてた息子達も大きくなり、彼等の父と同じように
トイレにmyブックを持ち込むようになった。ある日発見
したのが本著だった。開いてみると、とても淡々とした
語り口の、渋いエッセイ揃い。オトコの目線で世の中を
見るとこう見えるかぁ…と楽しく読んだ。もちろん
個室の外に持ち出してではあるが。
著者の眼力、文章力、やはり酔わせてくれるだけのことは
ある。また、小さい頃よりクスクス系の宗典本に親しんで
いた息子が、こんな渋い本を選び買ってきたことにも
嬉しい感動があった。

タイトルどおり、「人」に焦点を当てた短編小説集。全体的に物悲しくて、恐いものが多い。「１千万円の男」なんて、悲劇そのもの。日常の鬱屈したエネルギーが、言葉によって巧みに表現された人の短編集。誰が読んでも、どこかで納得できる（はず）。
