｢農協月へ行く｣。可愛そうなロケット操縦士。仕事上、その立場が凄く判るような人が読むと辛い。学生の身で読めば、感じ方も違うんでしょうが。
｢経理課長の放送｣。これも上記と同様に、働いている者の辛さがヒシヒシです。

｢信仰性遅感症｣。エロチックとはおよそ無縁なシスターが、ひょんなことから食物の味や性交の快感が17時間遅れで感じるのを描くエロチックな作品。特に、17時間前の性交の快感が人前での食事中に訪れる様の描写は圧巻。

｢村井長庵｣。村井長庵というのは、歌舞伎などに出て来る金のために凶悪なことをしでかす医者のことなんですね。そしてこの作品では筒井さんの手によって、無医村である離れ小島に身を隠す長庵が描かれています。性悪な人物がこれでもかと欲の限りを尽ち?す様を見せられると「善」の気持ちがくすぐられてしまいます。お銀ちゃんや島の人々に同情しながら、最後にはどういう結末が来るのだろうと頁をめくる手を急ぎ、、　そんな内容です。

　本書は七編の短編からなる。文章は著者独特の、触れれば腫れる程の強烈かつ危険なものが殆どである。その毒とは、ブラックユーモア又は社会の風刺が主成分であるが、著者の作品を初めて手に取った人には場合によっては強い嫌悪感を持つかもしれない。もっとも一度読んでしまえば筒井氏独特の世界に麻痺するだろうが。なにしろ自分も作者の作品は何冊か読んだが、それでもぞっとする時があるくらいだ。

　この七編のなかで最も「農協月へと行く」が一番痛切に感じられた、というより笑った。それというのも自分が農業と多少関係があるからだが、それにしても作品は憤怒することなく笑い出してしまうから不思議である。「農協月へと行く」は、金があり厚かましく無知蒙昧。そして何よりパワフルな農民達がひょんなことから虚栄心と興味からのみで月へと旅立つ。宇宙旅行という辺りがSF小家らしが、設定が愉快である。月までの飛行途中農民たちは滑稽に描かれるが最後には奇怪な結末が待っている。

　さて、文章の上をこれ以上ないといったほどの道化として、農民達が動き周るが（念のために、）作品をただ読んでお終いというだけでなく、前述したように前提として社会風刺があるのを忘れずに。この笑いの根底にある黒い色した、ある種の危険があるのを考えて読むと勉強になるかもしれない。

文庫本初版昭和54年。短篇集。目次は｢農協月へ行く｣｢日本以外全部沈没｣｢経理課長の放送｣｢信仰性遅感症｣｢自殺悲願｣｢ホルモン｣｢村井長庵｣。バブルで威勢のいい頃の農協を描いた｢農協月へ行く｣。医者のすさまじいご乱交を描いた｢村井長庵｣。人物描写が丹念でうなる。当然悪い人物像ですが。絶対のおすすめは｢経理課長の放送｣。形式の破壊、言語の異化、文体への挑戦と挑戦的な一品。再読してまた笑い泣きしてしまった。解説は扇田昭彦。
