感動、の一言です。
とても、とても深い物語です。
心理描写も情景描写も美しく、作者の文章力に驚くばかりです。

死者と生者は、どこかでつながっているのかもしれません。
生を通して死をみつめる。
死を通して生をみつめる。

じっくり考えてみてください。

　主人公が鬱々している日々に出会う　物事　がとてもうまく表現されていると思いました。雨や道などの日常風景を、心理描写にうまく使っていて、情景が浮かびます。「日本って美しい」って思います。　でも、仏像の巡礼場面は、私にはあまり面白くなかったです。でも、最後の最後のためにそれが布石に生きていました。そこまで読んだらまたやっぱり「日本って美しい」って思いました。風景以外にも、物語の中でわざとらしくなく　人生とか運命とかでてきます。本当に自然でした。押し付けがましく無かったですし。　私は、わざとらしい表現があると冷めてしまう（本を読みながら）ことが多いのですが、そういう場面がほとんど無かったので「井上靖はすごい」と思いました。

古寺巡礼が好きな私に、
同じく仏様好きの友人が教えてくれた本です。
最初はピンと来なくて、しばらく止まっていたのですが、
渡岸寺の十一面観音様が出てくるあたりから世界に入り込み、
最後まで一気に読んでしまいました。

琵琶湖湖畔にみえる、数多くの仏様と
人間の生と死を絶妙に絡めながら、
心の深い部分にしみ込むような物語でした。

渡岸寺の十一面観音様を見るたびに
思い出す作品です。

大好きです。
