　タイトル通り、基礎的な日本語の辞典です。普通の国語辞典とは違うのは、説明が細かくされているところです。語を分析する基準として、1)主体は何か、2)対象や相手は何か、3)どんな文型か、4)文型と意味との関係は、5)有情と非情、意思的と無意思的、6)瞬間動作と継続動作、7)部分的か全体的か、8)行為･作用の方向や道筋、の8つがあげられています。これらの観点から、語を分析しているのですが、例文だけでなく、図もたくさんあり、語の理解を助けてくれます。また、類義語との使い分けについても詳しく説明されていて、日ごろなんとなく使い分けていたその基準を明らかにすることができます。特に、学生からの質問攻めにあう日本語教師にお勧めの一冊です。

その説明を尽くしている。
基礎的な語ほどいろんなところでいろんな人に使われ、
その意味範囲が拡大していく。そのうちに捉えにくいものとなる。
この本はその語の核となる意味を押さえることができる。
語数がもっと増えたら星は確実に五つにします。
