ページ数が少なく、場面も学校の教室だけなので、時間をかけずに読み終われます。そのわりに竜との戦いのところではハラハラさせられるところもあって、冒険好きにはお得な一冊。教室で竜退治なんてありえない！と思いつつ、納得して入り込んでいってしまうのは岡田マジックでしょうか。誰の心にも竜がいる、それはちょっとした努力で退治できる。そうすれば自分も周りも変えることができるんだというメッセージにも、納得です。

　児童文学というジャンルの中、作者はどこに向かって書いているのだろう。いつもの彼の作品のように、わくわくする物語の展開の中に、今の子どもたちの、さらには、今の日本の向かう方への、強い危機感がおりこまれているようだ。沢山の人に、手にとって欲しい一冊であり、是非繰り返し読んで欲しい。こまやかな人の気持ちや場面の描写の中に、あなた自身が、きっと見つかるだろう。彼の視点の深さを堪能する一冊である。
