心底、この作者には脱帽の思いです。この話では、シハナや王家の陰謀や秘密が絡んできています。思わず息をのむシーンや驚きのあまり声を上げてしまうような展開が盛りだくさん、というか、それのみで創られているような話でした。バルサの思い、シハナの思い、王の思い、そしてアスラの思い、、、。色んな願いや思いが絡み合っていて、本にのめり込むあまり、彼等の言動に怒り、また、思わず涙してしまいます。しかし、ドロドロとすることもありますが、彼等の温かさや優しさも感じました。そしてもちろん、このシリーズの最大の魅力のひとつ、用心棒バルサのアクションも、バルサのやり方や考え方に、思わず拍手したくなるようなシーンも盛りだくさんです。ぜひ、読んでみて下さい。騙された、と思うことはきっと無いはずです。

~作者に敬服します。なんというか、作りに甘さや薄さがなくて、力のある作品だなあ、と、守り人シリーズを読みながら、思ってきましたが、この作品も例にもれませんでした。作品世界や人物のなんと確かな存在感、自然の描写の美しく、生き生きとしたこと！　物語の構成もそうですが、文章も素晴らしく、日本語を堪能できるというのは、翻訳本にない良さでしょ~~う。そして、人間の世界を見つめる、作者の広くて深いまなざしが、読む物の心にも染み渡ってくるようです。　
人間の生、社会、文化の、豊かで悲しく、そして、たくましくて、生命力にあふれていることを教えられ、読後しばらくは、自分に厳しい主人公バルサに触発されて、私も少したくましくなれたりするオマケがあって、私には、本当に必要な本です。~

中年の女用心棒バルサが、活躍するのがうれしいです。
女であり、しかも中年なのに強くてカッコイイのです。
今回は、おそろしき神を宿した少女を守っています。
もちろん、バルサの味方になって読みすすめていますが、追っ手であるスファルやシハナの考えにも一理ありという感じで、考えさせられます。
帰還編はこれから読むのですが、わくわくします。
