ニコリともしない三人組は、最後までニヒルなまま。でもお話は二転三転し、意外な結末へ。ティム・バートン（『ナイトメア・ビフォア・クリスマス』）とか好きな人にオススメ。とにかくページをめくるのが、楽しい、楽しい。大胆な構図、鮮明な色彩。作者は、自分の小さな娘（フィービー）にこの絵本を捧げています。最後のページに、ふたりの写真が載ってます。
この本は、ミニサイズ。小さいからこそ、愛着が生まれます。手の平サイズの素敵な世界です。

4歳になる息子がとにかく大好きな絵本。

購入してから1ヶ月以上が経とうというのに毎日、毎日「さんにんぐみよんで！」ときます。
購入当初はその絵の怖さにちょっと緊張気味で、「ちょっと・・」という感じだったのが何度か読むうちにお気に入りに！

なぜ？内容を完全に理解しているようではないし、いったいどこが気に入ってるのか？

聞いてみると「怖い絵」と「最後にこどもたちがたくさん出てくるところ」がお気に入りとのこと。ストーリーや絵だけでなく、この絵本の持つアンバランスな感じがする雰囲気が気に入っているようです。

　私が幼稚園に行っていたころに読んでもらった本です。泥棒が主人公だったのと黒を基調にした表紙の絵がとても印象に残っていて、息子（４才）にという口実で自分のために買いました。でも、やっぱり息子もこの本が気に入って「泥棒さんのお話読んで」とせがまれます。悪い泥棒さんたちが良い人になるのが不思議なようです。「なんで？」「なんでだろうねー」その度にいろいろ息子なりに考えているようです。
