何度も声に出して読みたくなるほどすてきな文です。絵も文とぴったり。
遠くから汽笛が聞こえたり、踏みしめる雪の音がさくさく聞こえたり、そんな感じのする本です。大人にも超おすすめです。翻訳本もくどうなおこさんの訳で出ています。こちらも日本語がとってもきれい。両方読み比べてみてください。

みんなが寝静まったよふけにとうさんと２人でみみずくさがしに行くことは、冬の特別のことでした。
「とうさんといっしょに　こうやってでかける夜を　わたし　ずっとずっと　まってたの」
「とうさん　いつも　いってたもの　みみずくに　あいにいくときは　しずかにしなくちゃいけないよって」

しーんとしたはりつめた静けさのなかにひきこまれます。シャリシャリこおった雪をふむ足音も木々のあいだをぬける風の音も聞こえてきます。ことばのひびきの美しい絵本です。とっても心地よい本です。ぜひ、声をだしてよんでみてくださいね。

冬の夜にフクロウを探しにいく父子の物語。最後の方にワシミミズクが登場します。
水彩っぽい透明な色彩が冬の夜の寒さを感じさせてくれます。
フクロウの姿は観察されて書かれていていいな、と思いました（指2本だったし！）。
実際に冬の夜にこういうワシミミズクに野外で遭遇できたら楽しいだろうな、と思う絵本です。
日本語版もあります。
