   「もちろんよ！ カンガルーにもおかあさんがいるわ。ママとあなたみたいにね」絵本作家／イラストレーターとしてあまりにも有名なエリック・カールについては、何の説明も不要だ。読者は、カールの新作を心待ちにしているはず。もちろん、本書もその期待を裏切ることはない。ストーリーはとてもシンプル。まず、おかあさんに何度も同じことをたずねる子どものせりふ。「ライオンにもおかあさんがいるの？」ライオンの次はサル、次はイルカと動物はかわっても、たずねることはみな同じ。そして、おかあさんの答えもずっと変わらない。カラフルな大きい文字で書かれた答えは「もちろんよ！」。続く「ママとあなたみたいに」どんなどうぶつにもおかあさんはいるわ、という言葉に、子どもたちはさぞかしほっとするにちがいない。本書では、繰り返しが一つの言葉遊びになっている。なぜならば、同じ言葉の繰り返しは、実に気持ちが落ち着くものだからだ。

   この親子の受け答えの妙は、実際に読んでみるとよくわかる。本書は声を出して読むことを目的にしているからだ。動物のあかちゃんと親、その動物の群れの呼び方が、本書には出てくる。クマの一団を「sloth」、キツネの一団を「skulk」と呼ぶことを知っているのは、大人でもそう多くはないだろう。もちろん、カール作品のトレードマークであるコラージュの色鮮やかさやきらびやかさは、著者の愛すべき定番絵本（『The Very Hungry Caterpillar』（邦題『はらぺこあおむし』）や『The Very Quiet Cricket』（邦題『だんまりこおろぎ――無視の音が聞こえる本』）のそれとまったく変わらない。すばらしいイラストは、額に入れても最高。（2~7才児向け）（Emilie Coulter, Amazon.com） --This text refers to the 図書館 edition.

エリックカール好きの1歳4ヶ月の息子に、1歳過ぎに購入しました。この本も繰り返しが多いのですが、動物の名前の文字がカラフルにしてあったり、最後のページに動物の子どもを英語でなんていうかという説明がしてあったりと丁寧に作られています。とてもきれいだし、繰り返しでリズム良く読んであげられるし、で息子の大のお気に入りの本の一つとなりました。

どんな動物にもお母さんがいますね。
カンガルーの子どもにもかあさんいるの？から始まって、
ライオン・キリン・ペンギン・はくちょう・きつね・いるか・ひつじ・くま・ぞう・さると沢山の動物の親子が出てきます。

それで最後は
どうぶつのかあさんはとってもとっても子どもをかわいがるわ。
あなたのかあさんがあなたをかわいがるのとそっくりおんなじよ。
となるのです（＾＾*）大変微笑ましいですね。

エリックカールの絵が動物親子の素敵に描いていますよ。
ママになった人にオススメ。漢字にフリカナも付いています。
大人の手のひらサイズで持ち歩きにもＯＫです。

内容はほのぼのしてます。どの動物にもお母さんと子どもが居て、それは私とあなたのようにね。と言う・・・
私が面白いなと思ったのは、英語の文章で、have,has,doesの関係かな？
Does a Kangaroo Have a Mother, Too?
Yes,Kangaroo has a mather.
といった感じ。
私の場合、子どもに英語をと言う前に自分で英語を喋れるようになりたいと思ってるので自分のためにもよかったなと思ってます。
感覚で覚えるというのはこういう事だなと思いました。我が家の３歳の子は、絵や雰囲気から内容を掴んで just like me and you（私とあなたのようにね） の１文が大好きで何度か読むうちに暗唱できるようになりました。
読んであげるとその文を一緒に読み、にっこりします。

この作者の絵本が大好きで買ってみたのですが、買ってよかったです。動物の親子がいろんな色で描かれていて、子供と一緒に読むのもいいのでは？？　何回見ても飽きません！
