各分野ごとにエキスパートが解説を行っているので、初学者にとって環境学の全体像をつかむのにちょうどよい本ではあるが、ある程度学んだ者にとっては物足りなさを感じるだろう。
環境学が学べる大学一覧を「"環境"を冠する学部・学科を中心に」選定したとあるが、冠しない所でも積極的に取り組んでいるところが多いのでもう少しきちんと調べて欲しかった。また、環境問題に取り組んでいるとは言い難い学科や、誤った名称で載ってる学部があった。進路案内としてはこの本は不十分なので、河合塾「 わかる!学問 環境・バイオの最前線 」をおすすめする。

環境学をこれから学びたい方や、環境関連の仕事をされている方には、適当な入門書かと思います。とにかく幅広い内容がカバーされており、、それぞれの専門分野で活躍している方が執筆していますので、基本をやさしく学べると思います。ただ、研究者もビジネスやっている人も色々なタイプがいて、ひとつの問題に対しても賛否など様々な意見が世の中にはあるので、この本に書いてあることをそのまま鵜呑みにしてしまうと、ちょっと怖いかなと思います。あくまでも入門書として、参考書として読むくらいが丁度いいのではないでしょうか。
