学生時代の受験勉強は、ビジネスにおいて十分役に立つポテンシャルをもっていることがこの本から分かります。受験勉強をビジネスに置き換え、目標設定・計画・記憶の３つのキーワードで話を展開しています。特に記憶力に重点を置いた話が印象深い。後半では、著者の専門である認知心理学が嫌味なく書かれている。メタ認知的知識・メタ認知的活動など難しい言葉も出てくるが、具体例を用いて分かりやすく説明しているため、楽に読めます。片道の通勤に１時間以上を費やしているならば、行き帰りの時間で読めてしまいます。現に私は、行き帰りの2時間で読めました。

だが、実践的なアドバイスがあるかというとそうではない。ノウハウ本と呼ぶにはやや不十分だ。あくまでも過去に和田氏のいうところの「受験勝者」だった人が、もう一度気持ちを奮い立たせ、モチベーションをあげるための本といったほうがいいだろう。

仕事ができるとはどういう事か？
問題解決能力がある。

問題解決する能力とは？
知識、経験等により、解法パターンをいくつしってるかである。

多くの知識があれば、推論の幅が広がり、問題を解決するアイデアを思いつく事ができる。
すなわち、受験で暗記した知識は知的財産として蓄積されているという事である。

そして何よりも課題から逃げずに、知恵を身につけ、解決していく、精神力、忍耐力が不可欠である。受験勝者は、すでにそれを保有している。

後は、その知的財産の使い方しだいという事になる。

仕事において、上の立場にたてばたつほど、問題解決能力が求められる。

よって、問題解決能力がある者が出世していく。
