上巻と比較するとかなり難しい問題を集めています。
レイアウトが見開きになっているので、とても見やすいです。

例文の構造はしっかりＳＶＯＣがわかりやすいようになっています。
特筆すべきは講義ＣＤでしょう。紙面だけではわかりにくいところが竹岡先生本人の声で解説してくれています。とてもわかりやすいです。

他の英文解釈系の名著が古くなり、昨今の入試問題の傾向から外れていく中、出版年が新しく講義ＣＤまでついた本書をやらない手は無いでしょう。わざわざ古い参考書に手を出す必要はあまり無いと思います。

この本をやれば長文を読む負担が激減し、効率よく受験勉強が進むでしょう。英語が苦手な人は上巻だけをしっかりやり、時間をおいて下巻をやるべきです。まぎれもない良書の一つです。

みもせず、ただ自分の憶測だけで、批判してるひとがいますが、ちゃんとやったひとならわかるはずです。これはいい参考書だよ。確実にみにつくし、基礎からしっかりやっくれてるから。何度もおなじこといってくれてるからいやでもみにつく。これ二冊でいいだろう。たぶん批判してるひとは、僕もやる前はそうだったけど、英作文がすぐれてるからといって、英文解釈まで、いいはずねえだろう。という意見でしょう。もうすでに伊藤先生に、西先生がいるんだ。それよりもいい参考書などだせるわけないとゆうことでしょう。だけどわかりやすさ、定着度、疑問ののこらなさ。はぬきんでます。そんなわけないとゆうなら一回だまってみてごらんなさい。えっこんなわかりやすいのっておもうはずです。

この本は、学生もさることながら英語教師にとっても有益だと思える書籍。ただ構造を解説するだけの参考書とは違い、精選された最小限の文章の中に、語源的ノウハウや構造の原理など、『どうしてそうなるのか』が今まで読んだどの英文解釈の本よりも詳しく書かれている。しかも、この値段で著者直々の講義がCDで聴けることを評価したい。あえてやや不満なところを書くとすれば、同格についての説明や関係詞が倒置という部分は受験レベルの学生対象の書籍としては専門的過ぎるきらいもある。
