議論の仕方から人身掌握、プロパダンガから発想法・記録術まで、厳密知とは一線を画した実用的な知のあり方がつまってる。が、そうした実用知を、厳密知の観点から分析してしまっているので、一度お湯にかけてもどす必要がある。それには、キケロの弁論術を併読することをお勧めする。

　２０００年以上も前に書かれたものを今だに手にとって読むこの面白さ！　
箇条書きにされているので極めて読みやすく、また気に入ったところだけを飛ばし読みすることも可能。忙しい現代人に好都合である。

　この本によって、深い人間洞察から得られた、社会生活に有益なアドバイスを得ることができる。言葉によっていかに人の心を支配するか？そのテクニックが豊富に記されているのである。営業職や管理職にある方は必読。
　また、現代のビジネス系啓発本では得られない、哲学的真理の探究する気持ちのある方にも満足できる一冊であることも間違いない。

この本の基底に流れているのは、聴衆はあまり賢くない、という直観的叡智だと思う。もっとはっきり言おう。人間の理解力など高が知れている。「一を聞いて十を知る」どころか、多くの場合、聴衆は「一」を正確に聞き取ることもできず、言葉尻をとらえての「十」の愚劣な誤解をするのである。そして、感情的に騒ぎ立てる。さらにそれを扇動するために「国民」やら「市民」と意味不明の概念を用いて、説得しようとする弁士がいる。当時の民主制にあっても、やはり、理性ばかりが支配していたわけではなかったのだろう。この本は、真理を追いかけるものではなく、より「らしい」言説を編み上げるための指南書である。そして、それを熟知することは、愚劣な弁論術から身を離す訓練をすることである。
