5.0 out of 5 stars 散文詩のような短編集, 2005/11/5
　アンデルセン童話集全７巻の第２巻目ですが有名な「雪の女王」が収録されています。これが一番長編で全部で57ページありました。他の有名な話では「みにくいアヒルの子」「赤いくつ」「マッチ売りの少女」なども収録されています。雪の女王は少年文庫で一度読んでいましたが、全く同じ内容でした。名訳によって大変わかりやすいストーリーになっています。

　アンデルセンのこの全集を読んでみてわかったことですが、やはり一部にはどう考えても子供向けではないものが含まれています。例えば「バラの花の精」の話の中には「頸を切り落とす」というような強烈な表現が出てくるのですが、結構ブラックな感じがします。岩波少年文庫の存在意義というのも少しわかったような気になりました。全部で26話の小作品からなりますが、私の印象に残ったものを下記のように偏見をまじえた簡単な説明にてピックアップしてみます。

・バラの花の精
　兄に恋人を殺された娘がその頸を掘り起こし・・・・ちょっと怖い！
・豚飼い王子
　姿形で人を判断することへの戒めが込められています。
・天使
　アンデルセンの宗教観がよく出ています。子供は死んで天使になれるかも知れません。
・みにくいアヒルの子
　読んでみると意外なストーリーに驚かされます。
・モミの木
　ちょっと悲しい話。人生が凝縮されているようです。

　この本のなかには２ページしかないような短編も含まれています。これらの短編は一種の散文詩のようで、美しいフレーズなのですが、意外に理解しにくいような感じでもありました。

雪の女王が読みたかったんですが、まるきり子供用のものはいやなので、いろいろ探した結果、この完訳シリーズの中に入っているのを見つけて購入しました。
この本は完訳だからか、お話によっては、人が死んだりとか悪者に殺されたりとか書いてあります。しかし童話ならではの楽しさや、やさしさ、アンデルセンならではの夢溢れる表現に、想像も膨らみすぐに最後まで読んでしまいました。
評価については、これといって減点する点も見つからないので、星５つにしました。
