熱いです。
聴力を失った音楽家が悩み、悩み、
そして生の喜びへと突き抜けていく。
書くとチープなんでごめんなさいですが、
読んでて泣きそうになるほどいいです。
圧倒的に感動してしまいます。
できれば家でオーディオで第九を流しながら、
曲の流れと同じ感じで読みたいです。

決して読みやすい本ではありません。
分量は多くありません。無駄がないのです。
しかしながら、こんなに人々に大きな励まし、勇気を与える本を私は知りません。
それだけ迫力があり、メッセージ性の強い本です。
もはや単なる伝記の域を超えたところにある名著です。

ロマン・ロランの「ベートーヴェンの生涯」、「ベートーヴェンへの感謝」を中心に、「ハイリゲンシュタットの遺書」、「ベートーヴェンの手紙」などベートーヴェンの生涯を紐解いていく名著。自分の為にではなく、不幸を味わっている人々のために作曲をしようとするベートーヴェンの精神力に思わず涙してしまいます。運命を受け入れ、悩みを突き抜けて歓喜にいたろうとしていたベートーヴェンを思うと「交響曲第５番」「交響曲第９番」もまた一層素晴らしく思えます。壁にぶつかった時に、この本を読むと自分の悩みはなんて小さなものなのだろうと勇気付けられます。ぜひ一度読んでいただきたい名著です。
