~　30代になって初めて読みました。純粋で勇気あるチトの思いと行動に感動しました。
　この物語は今の時代だからこそすべての世代の方に読んで欲しいです。
　「花って、災難をおこるのをふせぐんだよ」というチトの発見、「戦争があると、みんな何かをなくす」というムスターシュおじいさんの言葉・・・どきっとします。でも本当にそうだと思います。

　決して少年向け、というものではない深い内容は、いつ取り出して読んでも生きていくのに大切なことを教えてくれると思います。~

いろんな意味で美しい本です。

ただし、この本に感動するのは、子どもより大人のほうだと思います。
他の方も書いてらっしゃいましたが、大人向けの本と言えるかもしれません。

主人公のチトが、次々と投げかける素朴な疑問や心の動きには、はっとさせられることがたびたびですし、共感できるところも多々あります。

またチトを取り巻く人間たちの描かれ方も、個人的には、いいなぁと思いました。というのも、登場人物が単純に白･黒にわけられていないから。作家の包容力を感じました。

大切なだれかに、ふとプレゼントしたくなる本です。

きれいなおとうさん、きれいなおかあさん、そしてきれいなお家を持つ小さな少年チトは、ある日おとうさんの会社が、戦争の兵器を作る会社だということを知り、とても驚きます。それからチトは、街を見回します。悲しい人でいっぱいの病院、暗い刑務所、貧しい人たちが住む街外れ、そしておとうさんの会社。悲しく思ったチトは、どこにでも花を咲かせることができる魔法の指で、街じゅうを花でいっぱいにします。柵にも、鉄格子にも、汚い路地にも。人々に笑顔が戻ってきます。チトは、おとうさんの会社の兵器にも花を咲かせます。大砲からは花が飛び出し、戦争は中止になりました。最後に、チトは高い高いはしごをつくります。・・・そして・・・。

人々の喜びと悲しみ、チトの喜びと悲しみ。

衝撃のラストは、私はあまり好きではありません。けれど、物語全体に広がる美しさ、戦争を非難するつよい気持ちが感じられます。私はこの本に出会えてよかった。
