少々前にホビットの冒険を購入しました。
最初に思ったことは「とても内容がよく練られていてすばらしい！」でした。
最近読んだ本の中では、一番の楽しさ、内容、読みがごたえがありました。
結構古い作品ですが、非常によく出来ています。
しかも冒険ものですからどなたでも楽しく読めると思います。
弱虫のホビットから始まるのですがその展開が面白い。

そして特に気に入ったのは最初、結末がしっかりしていて、
読み終わってスッキリ一冊です。上下読むことをぜひお勧めします。

指輪物語以前を描いた作品と考えていただければよいです。
これは、児童文学として出されているだけあって、読みやすく、
指輪物語では荘厳な感じのエルフ族も、まるで妖精のごとくかわいらしい
感じです。
もちろん独立した作品として十分楽しめます。いきなり冒険に出てしまう
主人公のストーリーが面白いです。

この本の内容やキャラクターが、かの「指輪物語」につながっていくので、
まずこれを読んでみてください。
トールキン世界に触れることができます。

　J.R.R.トールキンのファンタジーの金字塔と呼ばれる『指輪物語』の「指輪」が発見されたことが明らかにされる物語です。瀬田貞二氏の素晴らしい訳を岩波書店が緻密な見直しをし、数回に渡る改定を行った読みやすい物語になっています。もちろん何回読んでも楽しめますが、物語の順序に従い、まずは『指輪物語』の前に『ホビットの冒険』読む方がお勧めです。

　ちょっと挿絵が小さいですが出先で読むにはこの少年文庫版がいいです。
