親を殺されたことも知らずに、その伯父の手元で育てられていたカスピアンは幼い頃から「ナルニア」に憧れていました。
おとぎ話として葬り去られていたナルニアを「ペベンシーの４兄妹」に助けられて復活させたとき、物言う木々や動物達も現れて、かっての偉大なナルニアが復活するのでした。

ナルニア復活に至るまでには、ペベンシー兄妹はかってのナルニアを見い出さなければならず、カスピアンは未知の世界のナルニアへ飛び込まなくてはなりません。

ス-ザンの「つのぶえ」がきっかけとなって、一同はアスランの元へ導かれ、真実を見い出し、苦しい戦いに力の限りを尽します。その中で一番大きな戦いは、実は心の中にある各々の不信感を取り除くことでした。

ネズミの勇士リープピーチをはじめ、小人の学者、巨人やフォーンなど脇役が本当に魅力的です。

いたいけな少年から、王となるまでのカスピアンの歩みは、人間の成長そのままといえるかもしれません。子供は憧れをもって、大人はカスピアンの成長を見守りながらこの本に夢中になれると思います。

ストーリー自体は楽しめますが、前回と同じ様に日本語訳が微妙なので
所々の文章を理解するのに苦しみます。
それにストレスさえ感じなければ、面白く読めると思いますよ。

キャラクターはとても魅力的です。
前作よりも登場人物が増え、個性的なキャラクターが多いので
実写になるとどんな感じになるのか、気になりました。
今回登場した人物(？)は後々の物語でも重要な役割を果たしそうなので
ペペンジー兄弟だけでなく、彼等の成長も楽しみです。

「ナルニア国物語」の第二巻。
ものいうけものやフォーンのことが消し去られ、忘れられた時代。
伯父のミラース王のもとから逃げ出したカスピアン王子は森の中で
「かれら」に出あう。伯父との戦いが始まり、追いつめられた王子は
伝説のつのぶえをふいて、４人の王を呼び出す。

読む者の心に、恐れや不信をのりこえる力、真実なものへの信頼を呼び起こす名作。
