『クマのプーさん』の続編のこの作品は、久々に読んだ感動的な作品であった。特に最終章で、すべての動物が去って行き、クリストファー・ロビン（主人公の男の子）とプーだけが残されて、クリスが「ぼく、もうなにもしないでなんか、いられなくなっちゃったんだ」と語る部分の意味は、余りにも深い。

本編の『クマのプーさん』から併せて読んで、上のセリフの意味する所を深く理解していただきたい。特に大人こそが読むべき本である。

一般的なイメージでは、プーはただのかわいいくまに思われている節がありますが、実は深い知恵をもったくまです。

プーは詩人でもありますが、プーがウサギに、「その歌、君がこしらえたの?」と聞かれたときの返事がすごい。「うん、まあ、こしらえたようなものなんだ。そりゃ頭でするもんじゃないさ」。また別なところでは、「詩とか歌とかってものは、こっちでつかむものじゃなくて、むこうでこっちをつかむものなんだ。だから、ぼくらは、むこうでこっちを見つけてくれるところへ出かけるくらいのことっきり、できやしないんだ。」と自分に語るのです。作為をよしとせず、無為に生きるプーは、さながら中国の老子のように超然としています。

これはほんの一例ですが、この本には生きるうえでの知恵がさまざまなところにちりばめられていて、楽しいながらも深みに感じ入ることができます。子どもから大人まで、強く一読を勧めます。

かわいくっておかしくって、
なぜかちょっとキュッとせつなくなる
プーさんと森のみんなのお話。
ティガーはこの本で初登場です。

Methuenのハードカバーの表紙がかわいくて、
中身の挿絵もカラーだし、
いいなー、でもハードカバーだと読むには重いなあ…
と思っていたときに見つけたのがこのバージョン。

ペーパーバックだけどオールカラーで、紙の質もいいので
カラー挿絵のが欲しいけど
ハードカバーは重いしちょっと大きい…と
思っている方にはおすすめです。
大きさはそれほど小さくはないです。
縦長で、新書サイズを一回り大きくしたようなイメージです。
