クリスマスにねがいをかなえるには、大きなことは
いらないのだなあと思いました。
偶然の働いた、この物語は、それだからこそ
願う大切さを説いているように思うのです。
ちいさな人形ホリー、さみしい少女アイビー、
それぞれに強く、そして、、こどものいないジョーンズ夫妻。
展開のうまさ、、おさえたタッチの絵。
どちらにも、絵本職人のような熟練を感じ、、
この作家たちの、次代の子への愛、、を
目にしたように思ったのです。

物質を与えることばかりに目をむけずに、
それ以外に心を説かなければ、、
と強く感じました。

バーバラ・クーニーの絵、クリスマスの話、この二つが組み合わさるとこんなにうつくしい本になります。。自分の手元におきたい本です。

ゴッテンの得意の、幼子とお人形のお話。
人形にも気持ちがあること、運命の出会いを待ってることを
毎回ごく当然のことのように描いてくれていて、好きです。

今回は、みなしごのアイビーちゃんとクリスマス人形ホリーのお話。
クリスマスには、やっぱり奇蹟が起こるのです！
