小学１年の娘が、図書館でこの本を見つけ、くいいるように見ていました。「これ、なあに？」「読んで、読んで！」と大変でした。しまいには、「この本買って！」と頼まれてしまいました。子どもにとって、不思議な世界だったようです。話を読みながら、「ミッケ！」の感覚で楽しんでいました。

　今となっては伺い知ることの出来ない、江戸の中村座を描いた一冊。
以前、どこかでこの本の中の「幕開けの一瞬」を描いた一枚を拝見
し、板付の役者の気迫、息を呑んでその瞬間を待つ観客、当時の芝
居小屋の熱気・雰囲気に圧倒されたのを覚えています。
今回、ここで見つけ、手に入れることができました!!

歌舞伎座もよいけれど、夢の中を彷徨うような気分にさせてくれる一
冊。
勘九郎さん、勘三郎襲名したら、今度はこういうの作ってくれないか
なぁ･･･
