門野さんの筆致が楽しくて、思わず笑ってしまう。自閉症ときくとつい悲哀に富んだお涙ちょうだいの話になりがちですが、視点を変えればこんなに楽しいんだということを気付かされる、ユーモアとウイットに富んだ元気のでる一冊です。地域の豊かで心やさしい専門家スタッフの存在が、むつかしいといわれる自閉症の子育てが楽しくなるよう、親への支援がたいへん充実していることがわかり、日本との違いを実感します。専門家・親御さん・行政職の方、どの立場の方にも読んでほしいと思います。

自閉症児の本ということで最初は尻込みしていました。けれど読み始めると一気に最後まで読めました。
読んだ後は「元気」と「勇気」をもらい、同時に頭をハンマーで殴られたような衝撃もありました。これはある子供たちの成長記録というだけではなく、人として私たちがどう生きるかを気付かせてくれる本です。
『自閉症である現実を受け止め、自閉症であることを障害ではなく「個性」として捉え、それをどう生かすか』。門野さんの目は常に未来に向いています。
何か悪いことや予想していないことが起きると、どうしてこうなるの？なんで私にこんなことが起きるの？と「なぜ（原因）」ばかりに目が向いてしまいます。起きたことは起きたこととして「受け止め」、じゃあこれからどうしていく？そこに焦点を当てる。「常に前を向いて生きる」、自分もそうありたいと思います。

一気に読みました。

オーティズムの王子様とお姫様を持つ家庭の様子が、活き活きと描かれていました。ユーモラスに描かれていますが、読んだ後は、なんでしょう、メッセージがずっしりときています。

電車やレストランで暴れている子（多分、オーティズムではないと思うのですが）がいても、「きっと彼等には彼らの事情があるのだろうなあ」と思えて、あたたかい気持ちでいられるようになりました。子供を見る目線が変った気がしています。
