「金で何でも買える、解決がつく」
そんな時代だからこそ、病んだ現代人に
「星の王子さま」は、人間の原点へ引き戻してくれます。

挫折を味わっている人にこの本を渡しました。
その人は、みんながうらやむところから、ある事故で
自分の夢をいっぺんに失ってしまい、途方に暮れていました。
毎日泣いていました。
この本を渡してから、笑顔が戻りました。

大切なものは目に見えない。
目に見えないからこそ、自分で感じなければならない。
まさにそれは「人の心」なのです。
この本は読み方でいろいろな目に見えないものを
感じとることができると思います。

~仕事の関係でフランス語の論文を「一応読める」ようになる必要があり、それならばあの有名な「童話」である「王子さま」をテキストにしてしまおうとフランス語の辞書と一緒に購入。文法の初歩すら知らない初学者にはなかなか無謀な試みではあったが、文法書やNHKのラジオ講座などを頼りに半年余りでどうにか読破。作者及び王子さまには苦笑されそうな初体験で~~あったが、日本語で読むと分からないニュアンスや表現の妙に感服すること夥し。振り返ってこんなにも深い物語であったのかと気づく。フランス語が無理なら英語でもいいです。別の言語で、「王子さま」を見直してみませんか。日本語は名訳とはいえ、それでもうまく訳せていないことが結構あるものです。~

最初はすこし敬遠している、という人が意外に多いらしいこの作品、確かに「王子」に「さま」がついてるのがいけないんじゃないかな。

フランス語でこれを読む人は当然仏語学習者なんですが、無理を承知で言えば邦訳よりむしろこれを先に読むべき、と思うほどこの物語はフランス語に命があります。全編を流れる王子の孤独とわずかな希望が、この言語特有のリズムに重なるのです。読むのがちょっと、というなら、あらすじを日本語で確認したらすぐに、別売りカセットの語りを聴くのもおすすめです。
