「一冊だけ一生とっておいて読むとしたら、どれにする？」と訊かれたら、多くの人が選ぶ本。人生の基本中の基本--結婚、子供、仕事、快楽--簡単だが美しい表現で伝わって来る（単なる「この人のphilosophy哲学」を超え）正に「wisdom知恵」を集めた大変短い本。一回目は一時間程で読み終わるが、多くの人は繰り返してそしてじっくり読み直したくなる。

特に、子供の事について、親宛の「Your children are not your children . . . 」は、感動的。
