アメコミのキャラクタWite Queenの好きなイラストがあり、誰が描いていたのかと探し回っていたところ、The Art Of Greg Hornにたどり着きました。輪郭線有りのCGは受け入れられるのですが、輪郭線無しの絵画的イラストには興味がありませんでした。CGと言えばつるっとした無機質な質感の絵ばかりで、つまらなかったからです。
しかし、Greg Hornのイラストによりその考えは吹き飛ばされました。新しい形のCGというか進化系に思えました。油彩や水彩をシュミレートするソフトは沢山ありますが、Greg Hornのイラストはシュミレートとしているのではなく、CGの特性を使い絵の具代わりにしている感じがするのです。新しいCGを求めている方にもお勧めです。ただ、Howtoが少し載っていますが、あまり参考にならないような気がします。もうちょっと詳しく載っているとわかりやすいのですが…
残念な点は、Greg Hornが描くシーハルクのイラストが載っていない事とデッサンやペン入れまでのモノクロのイラストをもう少し載せて欲しかったところです。
