おとうさんねずみが、これから眠ろうとベッドにいる７匹のこどもねずみに話してくれる７つのお話が載っています。 とってもユーモラスなお話ばかりで、うちの子はとても気に入って、「もう一回！」の連発でした。

のっぽのねずみとちびねずみ、風にふきとばされてしまうねずみ、お風呂に入ってきれいになろうとするねずみ・・・など、みんな個性的なねずみばかり。 イラストもかわいらしくて、見ていると楽しくなってきます！

７匹の子ネズミ達を寝かしつけるために、ベッドサイドで
お父さんネズミが７つのお話をしてくれます。

井戸へお願い事をするお話
雲のお話
背の高いネズミと背の低いネズミのお話
ネズミと風のお話
旅のお話
おじいさんネズミのお話
お風呂のお話

日常の風景の１部を切り取って、そこに不思議なエッセンスを加えたような
ほのぼのとした楽しいお話です。
私は、背の高いネズミと背の低いネズミのお話が１番好きです！

とても基本的な単語で書かれていて、繰り返しなども多いので
テンポが良くて、リズミカル。
読んでいて楽しいですし、読み聞かせにも楽しめる本だと思います。

多読をされている方で、疲れた時や調子がつかめなくなった時に
この本を読んで、スランプから脱出できた！という方が多いそうです。
じつは、私もその一人なのですが…。
やさしい英語で、童心に戻って癒されるお話だからだと思います。

お父さんがお休み前のひとときに七つのお話をしてくれます。雲が猫になっておそってくる！とお母さんに泣きつく男の子の話、風に吹かれてボートごといろんなところへ飛ばされてしまうネズミ君の話。中でも"THE WISHING WELL"はとてもよくできています。もしあなたが井戸に小銭を投げ入れてお願い事をしようと思ったとき、井戸に「痛い！」と言われたらどうしますか？

Arnold LobelはFrog and Toadのシリーズで有名ですが、むしろMOUSE SOUPやこの本に見られるような、ほのぼのとしたおかしさの中に良さがあるように思います。

カセットテープは控えめな効果音と聞きやすさで、好感が持てます。
