園藝やガーデニングをしていて、海外からタネをとりよせたり、また、見知らぬ花を手に入れたりしたときに、実に役立ちます。例えば、植物の学名は案外、異なる物に対して同じ名前を付けてしまう不手際が多い物なのです。名前を調べていると、どう見ても違う種類なのに同じ名前の花の写真があったりしますょね。これがそんな場合です。学名の名付け親(オーサー・ネーム)まで記述してある事典が有ると、そんな同姓同名、実は他人なんて言った「事故」がさけられます。此の本が有れば、普段目にする殆どの園藝植物の学名を始め、全てのデータが得られるのです。コレは凄いことです。さすがにカラフルな写真などは有りませんが、必ず買って良かったと実感が湧き、人に勧めたくなる数少ない本です。使いこなしは慣れるまで面倒ですが、人生観も変わる良書です。
