イオンチャネル研究者、神経科学者にとってバイブル的な存在であったIonic Channels of Excitable Membranes の第３版が出た。今回の改訂でタイトルの
Ionic Channelsがより一般的なIon Channelsに変更になっている。これまでもイオンチャネルに関連した研究をする者は一度は目を通すべき良書であったが、今回の改訂では、これまで通り古典的な論文の研究成果を重視しながら、最新の研究成果も盛り込まれている。この分野の近年の爆発的な発展を反映してかなり分厚くなり、専門的な内容も多く含まれるが、興奮性膜や神経科学を専門とする研究者にとって必ず読むべきバイブルであることは依然不変である。

Ion channelについて勉強するのであれば、この本以外に考えられません。
電気生理をやらないcellular neuroscienceを専攻する人も、このレベルは教養として身につけておきましょう。
Channelが嫌いなら、さっさとcell biologyに転向した方が良いかと。。
Excitable membraneについて勉強したい方には
Johnston & WuのFoundations of Cellular Neurophysiology(MIT Press)
をおすすめします。（式も追いやすいし）

他に代わりのない、電気生理学のバイブル。第３版になって内容もアップデートされた。イオンチャネル、膜興奮などを対象とする研究者が、デスクトップに常駐させるべき一冊といえます。
