This volume includes reproductions of these original texts, as well as accompanying transcriptions where the editor deals with textual issues and translates occasional Arabic phrases. Through a comparison of the original and corrected versions, readers can see how these classic works of Gibran evolved. In addition to four full-length works written in English, including Gibran's most famous, "The Prophet", four previously unpublished prose poems are also included: "Lullaby", "The Last Guest", "Untitled", and "Poverty and Sundry Aphorisms". The editor has also provided an introductory essay on the life and career of Gibran and a discussion of the manuscripts.
