英検１級の勉強中、リファレンスとして使っていました。収録されている単語は傾向に合っています。
ただこの本が評価できる点は、
・収録語の有益性
・入手しやすさ
・持ち運びやすさ
これにつきます。覚えにくいので、リストとして使い、あと２，３冊は必要なのではないでしょうか。

１級に合格して２年たち、GRE（アメリカ大学院出願用のETSの標準テスト）向けの単語を学ぶようになってみたら、この本だけが必ずしも良書ではないことに気づきました。ほかにもいろいろ、良い単語ドリルがあるからです。

　回り道かもしれませんが、英検１級の単語をマスターしたいと思ったら、SAT（アメリカ大学出願用のETSの標準テスト）,GRE、あるいはTOEFLのボキャビル本やドリルをやる方が、問題集も工夫されていて効率的なような気がします。定評ある1100　WORDS YOU NEED TO KNOWのほか、English Vocabulary in Use Advancedも、基礎固めには悪くないです。覚えやすいよう工夫されているし。

　いずれにせよ、どの本も一長一短で、「これだけで１級に十分」という語彙本はない気がします。

このレベルの単語は、英検1級、ＳＡＴ、などの資格試験の準備やBBCのニュースを字幕なしで見れるように勉強しているレベルの人にぴったりです。私の経験から言うと、この本の単語を５０％覚えれば英検1級はかるくＯＫです。1級レベルの人がＢＢＣのWorld Newsを見ていて、難しい単語を聞いたときに、この本で調べてみると大抵出ています。
単語の選択は最高に良いのですが、アルファベット順に羅列してあるだけなので（例文は一つづつありますが）この本で勉強する気にはならない本です。　あくまで参考書です。自分の学習の成果を測るためのマスターリストとしても使えます。

英検１級を目指して買いました。確かにでてくる単語はかなりレベルが高く、こんなの覚えて使いこなせるのだろうかと自問自答もしましたが、日本で出版されているどんな単語集よりもこの本がいいと、一級合格者の助言もあり今こつこつ覚えています。覚えた単語は、ＴＩＭＥや、英字新聞で目にするので覚えても決して損はありません。

英検、ＴＯＥＩＣ，ＳＡＴ等で高得点を目指している方々、一緒にコレを覚えて高得点、合格を目指しましょう！！
