実に美しく品のあるファッション写真集です。１９３０年代から現代までの各時代のファッションが見られます。TIFFANY Retrospectiveという９９年に日本で催されたティファニー展の図録も持っていますが、こちらがジュエリーのみを撮ったものであるのに対し、このTiffany in Fashion は女性が実際に身に着けた写真（Harper'sBazaarやVogueから多数）というところが、いわゆるジュエリーの写真集とは違います。ジュエリー細部をしっかり研究したいなら、宝石のみの写真の方がいいかもしれませんが、この本は素敵なドレスと共に美しいモデルに身につけられたジュエリーのファッション写真です。登場するのはソフィア・ローレンやリズ・テイラーら女優に、リンダ、シンディ、イマンらスーパーモデル、ジャクリーヌ・ケネディなど。ほとんど写真１枚に１ページをさいており、２５０枚の写真には、下に写真家名も入っており、Man Ray、Horst、Avedon、HelmutNewton等々の顔ぶれです。巻末に全ての写真の出展や、ジュエリーのデザイナー、ドレスのデザイナー、フォトグラファー、モデル名などの細かい説明が付いています。眺めていると時間を忘れそうです。

よっぽど素晴らしいんだろう、と勝手に想像してウキウキと購入してしまった自分に罪があるのかも知れません。
けどさ・・・。
なんだかさ・・・。
・・・なのよ。
モノクロ写真が半分を占めている、というのも「アレレ」だし、確かに綺麗な写真勢揃いなんだけどもそれらはマリークレールやヴォーグやシュプールに収められている広告写真、の域を出ていないのではないか、「アレレレレ・・・」。
