　小児科の待合室でアリスとオズの絵本を子どもに読んであげたのがSabuda氏の本との出会いでした。子どもの目の輝いていたことったら
ありませんでした。息子ふたりの誕生日が続き、恐竜好きだったため
少し恐る恐る注文しました。期待以上でした。狂喜乱舞。8歳の子は
壊さないように宝物を扱うように開閉し、4歳の子でもとても慎重に
見ています。「どうやって作ったんだろう。どうしたらこんなにすごいの作れるんだろう？｣何度も、繰り返していました。
　
　私自身もうっとりです。部分の精密さから色彩の美しさ、立体になって本から出てくる様は、芸術です。英文も事実に基づきこどもにとっても大人にとってもわかりやすい恐竜入門事典だと思います。文章も美しいです。なにぶん、英語なので読んでとせがまれつつ、1ページずつ、
ゆっくり訳してあげてますが、「いつか自分で読んでみてね。」と
言っています。本の中にたたまれた小さなページにも手抜きの感じられ
ない恐竜たちが隠れていてこれまた歓声の連続でした。ちょっと出費しちゃったけど2人にそれぞれ1冊ずつ買ってあげて良かったです。おとなにもこどもにも宝石みたいな絵本ですね。

この本の存在はかなり有名でしたが、甥っ子へのクリスマスプレゼントを買おうと実際手に取った時「そっ、そこまで飛び出すかっ!!」…心底驚き、そして店頭で釘付けになってしまいました。時にはダイナミックに、時には繊細に次々と飛び出す恐竜たち。特に各ページ毎のサブ･ページが素晴らしい!ただひたすら感動です。年齢に関係なく楽しめること間違いなし。お金を出す価値が十分に有ります。

仙台の小学三年生の甥っ子へ、クリスマスプレゼントの積りで買いました。話題のポップアップ本なので、一度自分でも見たいと思い、手許にとりました。

同じサブタさんの、お話のシリーズも沢山ありますが、男の子なので、こちらの恐竜とか、もう直ぐ出てくるサメと海の生き物などの、百科事典シリーズがいいかなと思いました。

結果、大人にプレゼントしても十分楽しめるのではないでしょうか。私は甥の為に、子供用の日本語訳を別途つけて送りましたが、小さな百貨辞典のようなもので、私自身も恐竜の事を楽しみながら学びました。

今はプロントサウルスとは言わないで、アパトサウルスって言うらしいですよ、皆さん知ってました？

絵本としても、百科辞典としても、十分大人でも楽しめます。おすすめです。
